SteamTrade Matcher guidelines

  • Only use SteamTrade Matcher for fair trades and not for profit. Trade offers sent using STM should always be 1:1 and from the same set. Sending unfair trade offers or making counter offers adding items for your profit is not something we want here and might get you banned from using STM if reported.
  • Make it easy for those who get your trade offers. Avoid sending multiple trade offers to the same user at the same time, try to group all the items you want to trade in a single trade offer. Also, it is recommended to add a comment stating that the requested items are duplicates. And saying you're from SteamTrade Matcher always helps of course ;)
  • Do not always trust the scanner. Scanned inventories are cached for a few minutes to increase performance, so the results you'll get will not always be up to date and trades might have happened in between. Always check the user still has multiple units of the item you want from him before sending a trade offer.
  • Do not always trust other users either. You should always check trade offers you receive. The other user might have mistakenly added the wrong item, or he might even be trying to scam you. Always check you indeed have duplicates of the requested items, and that the trade offer is fair. Please report scammers, either on STM or on the Steam group.
  • Keep it spam free. Please do not include spam or referral links in your trade offer comments while using STM.
  • Enjoy using STM! Never forget about this. Happy trading!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is SteamTrade Matcher?
  • SteamTrade Matcher is a tool designed to help you complete your sets of Steam Trading Cards, and fulfil your emoticons and profile backgrounds collections by matching your friends as well as other STM users duplicate items with yours. It allows you to instantly know which ones they might be willing to trade and what you could give them in exchange.
  • How does it work?
  • By logging in the website using your Steam account, your inventory will be parsed as well as all of your friends'. Then, any duplicate item on both sides will be listed in order to determine trades possibilities within the same game/application. e.g., if you have a duplicate Steam Trading Card for a game, and you're missing a card from the same game that one of your friends has twice or more, the tool will check if this friend is missing your duplicate card. If he does, then you'll have a match and the trade possibility will be displayed to you. Then the only thing left to do is to trade that with your friend!
  • Is it safe? Is it a scam?
  • Connecting to STM is done through the Steam website. That means you won't have to enter your Steam credentials here. The only thing STM gets is your public Steam info, like your SteamID, name, status and inventory content.
  • How do I use it?
  • Just log in with your Steam account using the connection button. Please make sure your inventory's privacy setting is set to "Public" or it won't be possible to scan its content.
  • How can I report a bug or a typo I found on STM?
  • STM is still in beta so you might encounter some bugs while using it. So if you want to report that something is wrong on the website, you can do it on the bug report forum in the SteamTrade Matcher Steam group.
  • What can I do to help?
  • The best you can do is talk about the website to your friends! You can also join the SteamTrade Matcher Steam group to get the latest news, discuss and share new ideas.
  • I own a 1:1 card trading bot. How can I make it appear as such on the scan page?
  • Bots can have a special status on STM that will make them able to be matched with different criterias on the scan page. For instance, cards won't need to be duplicates to appear in a match. This special status cannot be enabled by users. Please contact me on Steam or ask through the STM Steam Group to get it.
